The 8th grade class is on a winning streak! In the past month the girls basketball team won 2nd place in the Leflore County Tournament and the boys basketball team pulled out a win for 1st place over the Heavener Wolves! Not only are they winning in sports, but earlier this week Miss Ciera Diggs won runner-up in the spelling bee and will be representing Wister in Muskogee at districts! Keep up the good work 8th grade!!
In the first nine weeks the 8th grade have been very busy. They completed a project over symbolism in Mrs. Deedra's class. They explored the mechanics of rocket making in Mr. Horns class and went Geo caching with Mr. Nobles. With all of this going on some forgot to study for Mr. whites Social Studies class, but Mrs. Deedra had their back and let them cram in her class.
In the first full week back to school the 8th grade is being overwhelmed. In their classes they are hitting the books and starting to study hard for the end of the year testing. According to some of the 8th grade students Mrs. Deedra's new favorite saying is “its time to buckle down”. To make everything more hectic this week is the Junior High LeFlore County Tournament.
In an interview with the boys coach, George Midgley, he said “ we are undefeated right now and this is the most talented and deepest group I have ever coached”. When asked what strengths were going to help them when he responded with “our defense, hustle, and our work ethic is what will bring us to the top”. When the girls coach, Mark Warren, was interviewed he said “ I have hope for my team, you have to believe to achieve, and I believe that these girls can do it”. When asked what strengths were going to help him he said “ I think our strongest advantage is our athleticism and our ability to work together”. So far the coaches and teams have done just that both the girls and boys are in the semi-finals. So from the rest of your 8th grade GOOD LUCK!!!
